AKG Canada Launches Alberta Employment Connect

AKG Canada Launches Alberta Employment Connect, Creating One Clear Starting Point for Job Seekers in Northern Alberta

EDMONTON, AB — AKG Canada has officially launched Alberta Employment Connect, a new program that serves as a centralized coordination and navigation hub for job seekers across Edmonton and northern smaller urban and rural areas throughout Alberta.

Launched on July 2, 2026, Alberta Employment Connect creates one clear starting point into employment services. AKG Canada coordinates referrals and intake, welcomes job seekers, helps identify their employment needs, goals, barriers, and support priorities, and connects them to the Employment Services Provider (ESP) and wraparound supports best aligned with their next step. Direct employment services are delivered by ESPs.

Alberta Employment Connect is expected to support approximately 20,000 job seekers, including individuals with disabilities.

For many job seekers, finding the right support is not always straightforward. Navigating multiple programs, providers, and service pathways can be overwhelming, particularly for individuals who may be unsure where to begin or what supports are available to them. Alberta Employment Connect helps simplify that process by making it easier to understand available options and connect to the right services at the right time.

Through Employment Services Providers and community partners, job seekers may access a broad range of employment and community supports, including:

  • employment planning and career exploration
  • job search assistance and employment readiness support
  • skills development and training pathways
  • employer connections and hiring opportunities
  • disability-specific employment supports
  • community and wraparound supports that support long-term success

Successful employment outcomes often depend on more than job search support alone. Job seekers may benefit from additional supports related to transportation, childcare, housing, mental wellness, disability, or access to training. By improving coordination across the employment services system, Alberta Employment Connect helps connect individuals not only to employment services, but also to broader supports that can play an important role in long-term success.

By strengthening coordination between AKG Canada, Employment Services Providers, community organizations, wraparound support partners, and employers, Alberta Employment Connect helps improve access, strengthen referral pathways, and create a more connected employment support system. This coordinated model supports better service alignment and helps create stronger pathways to sustainable employment for job seekers across Northern Alberta.

The program operates through five locations across Edmonton, including:

Downtown Edmonton: Sun Life Place

Southeast Edmonton: Tawa Centre

Northwest Edmonton: Nexus Centre

West Edmonton: Meadowlark Centre

North Edmonton: 50 North

These locations, along with support for northern smaller urban and rural communities, help improve regional access to employment services across a broad and diverse service area.

“Finding the right support can be challenging, especially when services are delivered across multiple providers and systems,” said Andrea Gomez, Senior Director of Operations at AKG Canada. “Alberta Employment Connect creates one clear place to start. Our role is to help job seekers better understand their options and connect them to the services and supports that best align with their needs, goals, and circumstances. We believe this will strengthen access, improve coordination, and help create better outcomes for job seekers and communities across Northern Alberta.”

The launch of Alberta Employment Connect marks an important milestone for AKG Canada as the organization expands its work in Alberta. Building on decades of experience delivering employment services and community-based programs, AKG Canada is proud to support a more connected, accessible, and responsive employment services system for Albertans.
